Topic Objective: Students will evaluate their lives, experiences, and talents to share positive experiences and attributes with others. This is an ice breaker, get acquainted activity.
Positive Label Program Relevance: Tie to making positive labels.
Materials Needed: Paper, Pencil, Extended Name Tag template with area descriptions.
Procedure/Activity: 1. As students ahead of time to think of: "the place where you spent your happiest time", "three things you do well", "the name of a person who taught you something important and what the lesson was", "the year you spend your happiest three days an what were you doing." 2. Present the template and tasks.
3. Model the activity by sharing some of your talents and memories within the template. 4. Allow time for students to complete their own Extended Name Tags. 5. Let students share some or all of the areas on their name tags. 6. Display tags in the classroom or hallway. Students draw, color, and write within the Extended Name Tag template to create a representation of their positive memories, skills and favorites.
Instructions: Teacher will introduce the topics and discuss them with students. Teacher will model some of the self-evaluation and representation. Observe students work as they complete the name tags. Ask questions to clarify drawings of symbols or ideas that are not clear.
