Want to hear your students use words like nice, kind, friendly and loyal to describe their fellow peers and even you? Then try this activity from Amy Casey at Kedron Elementary with your students!
Overview & Purpose: Students will learn that positive labels make people feel good and that they are special in many ways.
Education Standards Addressed: QCC
Objectives: Students will learn that positive labels make people feel good and that they are special in many ways by choosing three positive labels to describe themselves.
Materials Needed: Cardstock template of a giant t-shirt, 12x18 inch piece of green construction paper, 1 ½ x 6 inch pieces of construction paper (multiple colors), digital picture of each child, pencils, scissors, glue, "Casey and the Amazing, Giant Green Shirt" By Margaret Ross
Instructions for Activity: The students will trace a t-shirt template on green construction paper and cut it out. Then the teacher will provide a large colored photo of each child’s face. The students will discuss the badges on Casey’s shirt from the story and brainstorm some positive labels they would use to describe themselves. Then the students will write them on different colors of construction paper to make badges for their shirts.
