 “KC3™ Citizenship in Motion” Award

  

Background:  The Kamaron® Institute (www.kamaron.org) KC3™ Positive Label Program is a research-based, six-week, Positive Character and Bullying Prevention Program proven to decrease name-calling, discipline and distraction incidents in schools and buses, while increasing kindness and cooperation.  

 

The NationalMuseum of Patriotism (www.museumofpatriotism.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the history of patriotism.  The Museum is a research center for exploring the development of patriotism through educational displays and exhibits.  The Museum building is a 20,000 square foot structure in the heart of Atlanta.  Within its walls echo the words and dreams of patriots throughout centuries.  It is the home of the GeorgiaCenter for Character Education.

 

The Kamaron® Institute KC3™ Positive Label Programs and books have been official character education resources of the National Museum of Patriotism in Atlanta, Georgia since 2002.

 

National Museum of Patriotism KC3™ Citizenship In Motion Award: An annual, performance-based, national Citizenship Award Program recognizing outstanding initial achievement and continuing commitment in the areas of positive, caring citizenship and character education through the implementation of the KC3™ Positive Label Certification Program.  

 

National Award Criteria

  • Organization (e.g., school, bus, after school program) exceeds KC3™ Positive Label Program certification criteria and is recommended by Kamaron® Institute
  • Organization expands program impact with a partner group (e.g., bus, school, community partner, after school program, parent group, civic group)
  • As measured in pre and post surveys, exceed program goals of decreasing name-calling by 10% and increasing kind words and cooperation by 10% to improve a school's atmosphere for learning.  Decrease bus distractions by 10% and increase courtesy and cooperation to make the bus safer and to deliver students to school ready to learn.
  • “Outstanding” citizenship/cooperation rating by its partner organization
  • Organizations (e.g., school, bus) support behavior change with KC3™ Positive Label Program follow up activities

 Judges will use specific program results as reported in program pre and post surveys and reference the CEP list of Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education to review all applications.

Answer: KC3™ Positive Label Program, created by Margaret Ross in cooperation with students, drivers, educators, and other helping professionals, and offered through the Kamaron® Institute, is designed to teach children that words are powerful tools that can have either a positive or negative effect.  KC3™ stands for Kamaron Concept Three, which states, "Labels Change Lives", and is the program motto.  The heart of the program centers on the first of Ross’s three "Casey" books, "Casey and the Amazing, Giant, Green Shirt".
